The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a 24-hour temporary water supply disruption in some parts of Ghatkopar, Bhandup, and Mulund. The water supply cut will be effective from 11.30 am of May 24 till 11.30 am of May 25 due to diversion work of an existing 1200 mm diameter water main along Mulund Goregaon Link Road (GMLR). Residents have been advised to store sufficient water for the duration of the shutdown and to use water cautiously. After the supply is restored, citizens are urged to boil and filter water for the next 4 to 5 days.

Two individuals in Mulund, Hitesh Saste and Tanvi Kale, sustained severe injuries when a tree collapsed on them while they were riding their bike. Despite a previous request from a private entity in 2018 to cut down the dangerous tree, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) granted permission only for trimming, which was carried out twice. However, the tree deteriorated internally and suddenly collapsed, causing the incident. The victims and their families express frustration over the BMC’s failure to grant permission for felling the tree, which could have prevented the mishap.
