Two college students, Rajveer Jagatsingh Khant and Ganesh R Vanparthi, have been charged by the Mumbai Crime Branch for sending threatening emails to Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, demanding a large sum of money. The students, arrested in November 2023, utilized virtual private networks and secure email services to conceal their identities and send multiple emails demanding crores of rupees.
On Tuesday, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested Mohammad Chaudhary, the fifth suspect in the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence. Chaudhary will be brought to Mumbai and presented in court for a custody hearing. Four other suspects, including two alleged shooters, had been arrested earlier in connection with the case. One of those suspects, Anuj Thapan, died by suicide in police custody on May 1, raising questions about his death and prompting his family to seek a CBI probe.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has requested the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs to issue a lookout circular against Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of underworld don Lawrence Bishnoi, who has taken responsibility for the firing incident at actor Salman Khan’s residence earlier this month. An investigation revealed that the firing was planned inside Sabarmati Central Jail in Gujarat, where Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged. The court has granted custody of the suspects to the Crime Branch until April 25, and additional charges have been filed against them.
