On May 13, five constituencies in Bihar – Munger, Begusarai, Samastipur, Ujiarpur, and Darbhanga – will participate in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. A total of 56 candidates are vying for votes in these constituencies, with caste equations playing a significant role in candidate selections.
In Munger, the contest pits Anita Kumari Mahto of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) against Rajiv Ranjan Singh, known as Lalan Singh, of the Janata Dal (United). In Begusarai, BJP’s Giriraj Singh faces off against CPI’s Awadhesh Kumar Rai. Samastipur sees a clash between Sambhavi Choudhary of the Lok Janshakti Party and Sunny Hazari of the Congress. Darbhanga has Gopalji Thakur of the BJP running against RJD’s Lalit Yadav, while Nityanand Rai of the BJP and Alok Mehta of the RJD compete in Ujiarpur.
