Deadly Stabbing in Santa Cruz Park Stems from Prior Conflict

A fatal stabbing in Santa Cruz’s DeLaveaga Park has claimed the life of one man. The victim was acquainted with his killer, Joseph Dale Young, who has been arrested and charged with murder. Police believe the stabbing was not a random act of violence but rather the result of an ongoing dispute between the two men. The victim’s identity will be released by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office after family notification. This incident marks the second homicide in Santa Cruz in 2024, following the tragic death of UCSC student Zainab Mansoor earlier this year.
