Newly Discovered Dinosaur Species Named Musankwa sanyatiensis

A significant fossil discovery in Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe, has resulted in the identification of a new dinosaur species named Musankwa sanyatiensis. Researchers uncovered the fossilized remains of a hind leg belonging to this species embedded in a rock on the lake’s shoreline. The study, published in Acta Palaeontologica Polonica on Thursday, indicates that these remains date back to the Late Triassic period, approximately 210 million years ago. Analysis of Musankwa Sanyatiensis reveals its classification within the Sauropodomorpha clade of long-necked dinosaurs that existed during the Late Triassic.
