John Lennon’s ‘Help!’ Guitar Smashes Auction Record, Becoming Most Expensive Beatles Instrument Ever Sold

An iconic acoustic guitar played by the legendary John Lennon has set a new world record at auction, fetching a staggering $2.9 million. This historic Framus 12-string Hootenanny guitar was used during the recording of the Beatles’ timeless album ‘Help!’ and the film of the same name, contributing to some of their most iconic songs from the 1960s. Presumed lost for half a century, the guitar resurfaced and was acquired by the road manager for the musical duo Peter and Gordon. Julien’s Auctions handled the sale, with CEO David Goodman expressing his excitement about setting a new benchmark in music history. The auction, titled ‘Music Icons’, also featured notable items like Tina Turner’s Versace dress, Amy Winehouse’s Fendi gown, and a book of Tupac Shakur’s handwritten lyrics.
