In order to boost voter turnout in Karnataka, the Mysuru district administration has decided to close tourist spots on April 26, the date of the Lok Sabha elections in the state. Famous tourist attractions like the Mysuru zoo and Karanji lake will be closed to the public to encourage voting. The state government has declared public holidays on April 26 and May 7, the days of voting in two phases. In the 2019 elections, Bangalore South had a voter turnout of 53.70%, Bangalore Central 54.32%, and Bangalore North 54.76%. The overall voter turnout in Karnataka was approximately 68%.
