Former Rutgers women’s basketball guard Jillian Huerter has transferred to Fairfield University, a powerhouse program in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Huerter, a freshman sharpshooter, averaged 6.9 points and made 57 three-pointers last season. She joins a Fairfield team that is coming off a historic 31-2 campaign, culminating in an NCAA tournament berth. The Stags went undefeated in conference play, winning both the regular season and tournament championships. They defeated Rutgers 78-54 last season, a game in which Huerter contributed nine points by hitting three three-pointers. Rutgers has been busy making moves to replenish its roster after losing three players to the NCAA transfer portal in the offseason. The team has signed JoJo Lacey, a graduate transfer from Boston College, and five-star guard Kiyomi McMiller, a member of the Class of 2024. They have also landed four-star recruit Zacahara Perkins of Summer Creek High School in Houston, Texas.

Bronny James, the son of NBA superstar LeBron James, has declared his intention to enter the 2024 NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. The 19-year-old announced his decision via Instagram, also indicating that he will enter the NCAA transfer portal. James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 25 games for the USC Trojans during his freshman season. His draft stock is considered a mystery, but he has the potential to be a successful player at the next level. James is a high-motor defender with a playmaking upside, and he has an incredible basketball IQ. He will have until May 29 to decide whether to remain in the draft or return for his sophomore season.
The Minnesota Gophers have filled their need for a third scholarship quarterback by landing Virginia Tech transfer Dylan Wittke. Wittke, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound signal caller, entered the NCAA transfer portal on April 17 after reportedly falling behind in the competition for the Hokies’ backup quarterback job. He committed to Minnesota this week and is expected to compete for the backup role behind senior starter Max Brosmer in 2024.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers have addressed a pressing need at wide receiver with the addition of Tyler Williams, a four-star transfer from Georgia. With limited reliable options behind all-Big Ten receiver Daniel Jackson, the Gophers welcomed Williams on campus on Tuesday, and he committed to the program that evening. Williams, a 6-foot-3, 205-pounder, played in two games for Georgia last season, catching one pass for four yards. He transitioned from quarterback to receiver in high school and caught 28 passes for 399 yards and six touchdowns in his senior season. Williams is expected to contribute immediately for the Gophers, who open their season against North Carolina on August 29.
