Numerous international reports and rankings have surfaced prior to the 18th Lok Sabha elections, criticizing India on various aspects. However, many of these reports exhibit an agenda-driven approach and lack credibility. They often rely on opaque methodologies and are used by politicians and the media without proper scrutiny. One such report by the World Inequality Lab alleges that income inequality in India is among the highest in the world. However, other reports, such as the World Happiness Report and Global Hunger Index, have placed India in unfavorable positions, despite evidence suggesting improvements in poverty reduction.
