Nepal’s New Currency Note Featuring Disputed Territories Sparks Tension with India

Nepal’s introduction of a new 100 currency note depicting disputed territories with India has caused diplomatic strain between the two countries. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has condemned Nepal’s unilateral action, stating that it will not alter the ground reality. Nepal’s decision follows its constitutional amendment in 2020, which revised its political map to include contested areas such as Lipulekh, Kalapani, and Limpiyadhura. India has strongly opposed this move, maintaining its ownership over these territories.
