Jet2’s Bold Sustainability Strategy: Journey to Net Zero

Jet2 and Jet2holidays have unveiled an ambitious sustainability strategy that aims to achieve net zero by 2050. The strategy includes a 35% carbon emissions reduction target by 2035, aligning with the Science Based Targets initiative. It encompasses initiatives such as enhancing fuel efficiency, reducing aircraft weight, and expanding the Certified Sustainable Hotels collection. Jet2 has made significant progress since 2021, including investments in SAF and the replacement of single-use plastics. The strategy emphasizes the importance of government support in accelerating aviation decarbonization through investments in SAF, air traffic management reforms, and electrical infrastructure upgrades.

Private Companies Lagging Behind in Net Zero Commitments, Study Finds

Private companies are lagging far behind their publicly listed counterparts when it comes to addressing net zero emissions, according to a new study. Only half of the world’s 100 largest private firms have set a net zero or emissions reduction target, compared with the vast majority (82) of the 100 largest publicly-owned firms. This is despite a growth in climate and ESG regulation around the world, which is increasingly requiring companies to disclose their climate impacts and take action to decarbonize.
