Chinese EV giant BYD has reached a significant milestone by producing its 9 millionth new energy vehicle (NEV). This achievement, marked by the Yangwang U9 supercar, highlights BYD’s growing presence in the luxury and performance segments of the EV market.

Denza, BYD’s premium NEV brand, has begun pre-sales for its Z9GT hatchback, aiming to capture the market with competitive pricing and powerful performance. The Z9GT, featuring BYD’s e3 technology, boasts nearly 1,000 horsepower and a sub-four-second 0-100 km/h acceleration. The Z9GT, priced between RMB 339,800 and RMB 419,800, will be officially launched in September. Denza also revealed the regular sedan version of the Z9, which will start deliveries in the fourth quarter.
Shaun Rein of China Market Research Group believes that Chinese New Energy Vehicle (NEV) companies are on the verge of outperforming their Western counterparts in China’s market. However, he urges investors to exercise caution in the near term due to an ongoing price-cutting cycle within the industry.
