The New England Revolution have made two roster moves on the final day of the primary MLS transfer window, acquiring defender Xavier Arreaga from Seattle and signing former Portland goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic. The acquisitions aim to bolster the team’s defense and provide competition in goal, but the Revolution’s offensive struggles remain unresolved.
The New England Revolution have acquired defender Xavier Arreaga from the Seattle Sounders in exchange for a 2025 international roster slot and up to $75,000 in cash. Arreaga, a 29-year-old Ecuadorian international, brings over 100 games of MLS experience to New England, including 82 starts. He was part of the Sounders’ MLS Cup-winning team in 2019 and also helped them win the 2022 Concacaf Champions Cup. Arreaga has also made 20 appearances for the Ecuadorian national team, including nine World Cup qualifying games.
