Former MIT Researcher Sentenced to 35 Years for Murder of Yale Graduate Student

Qinxuan Pan, a former researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of Yale University graduate student Kevin Jiang. Jiang was shot multiple times on February 6, 2021, just days after getting engaged. Pan pleaded guilty to murder in February and apologized at his sentencing hearing. No clear motive for the killing has been established, although investigators discovered that Pan and Jiang’s fiancée had met while at MIT and were connected on social media.
