Mana Up, a Hawaiʻi-based economic development initiative, is hosting the “Mana Up Aloha Market” in New York City from April 26-28. The three-day retail boutique will feature 40 Hawaiʻi companies with unique, island-made products, including 10 Maui-based businesses in a special “Aloha for Maui” area. The market will also host educational sessions on Maui’s recovery efforts and highlight Hawaiian culture, foods, and industries.
NJ Transit has approved a fare increase for its bus routes to New York City. The new fare will be $24.40, a 15% increase from the previous $21.25. The increase is intended to fund safety and reliability upgrades.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has denounced antisemitism and hate speech at ongoing protests at Columbia University. Adams instructed the NYPD to investigate any violations of law and condemned specific examples of hate speech, including signs targeting Jewish students and chants supporting Hamas. The university has increased security measures and arrested over 100 protesters, while Representative Elise Stefanik has called for the resignation of Columbia’s president for failing to protect Jewish students.
