Despite the free agency period winding down, the Chicago Bears might continue making roster adjustments. According to Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune, there’s a possibility that the Bears will release edge rusher Dominique Robinson and wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. Robinson, a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, appeared in all 17 games in his rookie season, recording 30 tackles and 1.5 sacks. In 2023, he played in 11 games, contributing 12 tackles and half a sack. Velus Jones Jr., a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has not met expectations. In his debut season, he played in 12 games, catching 7 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown, and rushing for 103 yards and another score. Last season, he played in 14 games, catching 4 passes for 20 yards and rushing for 51 yards on 8 attempts. The Bears may explore different ways to utilize Jones in 2023 under new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. However, with the addition of wide receiver Keenan Allen via trade, opportunities for Jones may be limited unless the team finds a unique way to incorporate him into the offense.
