Tamil Nadu Celebrates World Tourism Day with Grand Events in Nilgiris

Tamil Nadu’s Minister of Tourism, K. Ramachandran, led a grand procession in Udhagamandalam, Nilgiris, to celebrate World Tourism Day. The event highlighted ongoing development efforts to boost tourism in the state and showcased the government’s dedication to promoting diverse tourism experiences. Further celebrations included a visit to the Government Botanical Garden and a food court featuring local flavors.

Earth Day 2024: Nilgiris Organizations Unite to Address Environmental Challenges

Various non-governmental organizations, including the Garden of HOPE Trust, JCI Kotagiri, Rotary, Lions, and others, came together to celebrate Earth Day 2024 in Udhagamandalam. The event focused on raising awareness about pressing environmental issues, particularly plastic pollution, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. The organizations collectively appealed to the Nilgiris district administration to regulate vehicle entry in order to preserve the ecology, reduce traffic congestion, and improve the quality of life for residents.

IIM-B, IIT-M to Determine Carrying Capacity for Nilgiris, Kodaikanal

The Tamil Nadu government has tasked the Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore (IIM-B) and the Indian Institute of Technology – Madras (IIT-M) with conducting studies to establish the carrying capacity of the ghat roads leading to the Nilgiris and Kodaikanal, respectively. This move aims to regulate the number of vehicles and tourists entering these hill stations, ensuring sustainable tourism practices.
