SpaceX Employee Injuries on the Rise

Employees at Elon Musk’s SpaceX facilities are experiencing injury rates significantly higher than the industry average. In 2023, SpaceX reported to OSHA that injury rates at its Brownsville, Texas location reached 5.9 for every 100 employees, and 2.5 at its Cape Canaveral, Florida facility, a steep increase from the previous year’s 0.9 injuries per 100. The space industry’s injury average is just 0.8. Reuters found that since 2014, SpaceX has been dealing with workplace injuries, including broken bones, concussions, amputations, and a skull fracture.
