Wolf Attacks in Uttar Pradesh: Shoot-at-Sight Order as Last Resort

Amidst a surge in wolf attacks in Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered shoot-at-sight as a last resort, while urging officials to prioritize rescue operations and investigate the root causes of the conflict. The attacks have resulted in 10 deaths, mostly children, and injured over 34 individuals, prompting authorities to launch ‘Operation Bhediya’ to capture the responsible wolves.

Forest officials in Uttar Pradesh have captured a fourth wolf involved in a series of attacks that have killed eight people and injured over 25 in the Bahraich area. The capture comes as part of ‘Operation Bhediya’, a large-scale effort to apprehend the wolves, which have instilled fear in over 50,000 residents. While two wolves remain at large, the operation utilizes advanced technologies like drone cameras and thermal mapping to track them down.
