The Padma Awards 2024 have been announced, honoring 132 individuals for their exceptional contributions in various fields. Among the recipients are 30 women and 8 from the categories of foreign non-resident Indian (NRI), person of Indian origin (PIO), and overseas citizenship of India (OCI). The awards are conferred in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.
Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Sulabh International founder Bindeshwar Pathak, and other prominent figures received Padma Awards from President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Padma Vibhushan was bestowed upon Naidu, Pathak (posthumously), and Bharatanatyam dancer Padma Subrahmanyam. Actor Mithun Chakraborty, singer Usha Uthup, and industrialist Sitaram Jindal were among those who received the Padma Bhushan.
