A female hiker was rescued by a search-and-rescue crew from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office of Aviation after becoming dehydrated while hiking in Painted Canyon near the Salton Sea. The rescuers hoisted the boyfriend first, followed by the victim who was semi-conscious and taken to a nearby hospital. The extreme heat in the area, which reached triple digits, overwhelmed the couple who ran out of water. Officials warn hikers to carry plenty of water, especially during the hot summer months.
