Bhojpuri Star Pawan Singh Makes Waves in Karakat Lok Sabha Seat, Challenging BJP Ally Upendra Kushwaha

Bhojpuri singer and actor Pawan Singh’s decision to contest as an independent candidate in the Karakat Lok Sabha seat in Bihar from the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has shaken up the electoral dynamics. Singh, who was initially offered the Asansol seat by the BJP but declined, is now putting up a significant challenge to former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha, the current president of the RLM. The entry of Singh, a popular figure in the Bhojpuri film industry, has turned the contest into a three-way race, with the Opposition alliance fielding Rajaram Singh of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).

BJP Expels Bhojpuri Star Pawan Singh for ‘Anti-party’ Activities

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled popular Bhojpuri film star and singer Pawan Singh from the party for ‘anti-party activities’ and ‘maligning the image of the party’. Singh had recently joined the BJP but decided to contest the Lok Sabha election as an independent candidate from Karakat constituency, going against the party’s official candidate Upendra Kushwaha of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) alliance.
