The Pacific Coast Arena League (PCAL) is poised to embark on its 13th season in 2024, building on the success of its previous season, which showcased numerous arena polo tournaments under the auspices of the United States Polo Association throughout California. Arena polo, also known as ‘hockey on horseback,’ is a thrilling ball and mallet sport played on horseback in an enclosed arena with two goal mouths. Teams of three players, mounted on horseback, use bamboo cane mallets to maneuver the ball towards their opponents’ goals to score points. Game play consists of 7.5-minute periods, known as ‘chukkers,’ with four chukkers constituting a game. The team with the highest score at the end of the game emerges victorious.
