Chicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger has been sidelined with two fractured ribs on his right side. Bellinger sustained the injury while attempting to make a play on Yainer Diaz’s RBI double in Tuesday night’s victory over Houston. Despite initially downplaying the injury, a subsequent CT scan revealed the fractures. The Cubs have placed Bellinger on the 10-day injured list and recalled Pete Crow-Armstrong from Triple-A Iowa. Bellinger joins several other injured Cubs, including Seiya Suzuki, Justin Steele, Drew Smyly, Kyle Hendricks, and Julian Merryweather. Despite the setbacks, the Cubs remain hopeful that Bellinger’s injury will be short-lived and that he will soon return to the lineup.
