Kings Fall to Oilers in Lopsided Game 1 Despite Offseason Additions

The Los Angeles Kings looked to shake things up this season by adding Pierre-Luc Dubois, but their toothless penalty kill and lack of rush chance prevention allowed the Edmonton Oilers to cruise to a 7-4 victory in Game 1 of their playoff series. Despite being gifted three goals, the Kings still managed to lose by three, raising concerns about their ability to compete with the powerhouse Oilers. Interim coach Jim Hiller acknowledged the fixable issues but remained noncommittal about goalie changes for Game 2.
