Maneka Gandhi Hints Varun Gandhi’s Critical Writings May Have Cost Him BJP Ticket

In an exclusive interview, former Union minister and BJP’s Sultanpur candidate Maneka Gandhi indicated that her son Varun Gandhi’s writings, which were sometimes critical of the government, may have cost him the party’s Lok Sabha ticket from Pilibhit. She asserted that he would do well even without it. Maneka Gandhi mentioned that Varun Gandhi wants to campaign for her but a decision hasn’t been made yet. The BJP fielded Uttar Pradesh Public Works Minister Jitin Prasada from Pilibhit instead of Varun Gandhi. Notably, the Pilibhit seat has remained with Maneka Gandhi or her son since 1996.

PM Modi Likely to Receive Clean Chit in Election Code Violation Case

The Election Commission of India (ECI) is expected to issue a clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a complaint accusing him of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during campaigning in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. The complaint alleged that Modi appealed to vote in the name of religion by referring to the construction of the Ram Temple, development of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, and the return of Sikh holy book Guru Granth Sahib from Afghanistan. However, the ECI has reportedly concluded that these statements do not constitute such an appeal.
