Manipur Violence: 70 Houses, Police Outposts Torched as Curfew Imposed

Fresh violence erupted in Jiribam district of Manipur on Saturday, leading to the torching of numerous houses, police outposts, and a forest office. Suspected militants set fire to more than 70 houses, forcing villagers to flee and seek refuge in a relief camp. The violence erupted after the killing of a 59-year-old man by suspected militants, triggering protests and a curfew by the Manipur government. The National Investigation Agency has arrested a militant commander in connection with the violence.
