A fatal accident involving an escort vehicle allegedly part of BJP candidate Karan Bhushan Singh’s cavalcade in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda resulted in the tragic deaths of two youths and injuries to a woman. The incident occurred on Wednesday, triggering outrage and protests among the local community.
Rehan Khan (17) and Shehzad Khan (20) were riding a motorcycle when they were allegedly struck by a Fortuner SUV. The impact of the collision caused their immediate demise. The vehicle subsequently lost control and hit Sita Devi (60), a pedestrian, injuring her severely. Devi was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
Police have detained the accused driver, Lavkush Srivastav (30), and impounded the Fortuner. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The local population has alleged that the SUV involved belonged to Karan Singh’s cavalcade, who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Kaiserganj. They further claimed that the occupants fled the scene in another vehicle, abandoning the damaged Fortuner.
Protests erupted in the aftermath of the incident, with locals and family members of the victims demanding justice. Police officials intervened to pacify the demonstrators and vowed to take swift action.
