In the past 24 hours, several poll personnel deployed for the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have succumbed to the rising temperatures. In Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, 13 personnel died at a hospital due to high fever and blood pressure. Two additional personnel in Sonbhadra district also passed away due to suspected heatstroke. Meanwhile, in Bihar, where temperatures have soared to 44 degrees Celsius, 24 fatalities have been reported. Security personnel at a polling station in Sasaram collapsed due to extreme heat, with some in critical condition.
