A decade and a half after the end of Sri Lanka’s civil war, the Tamil people continue to face economic and political challenges. The Rajapaksa regime’s militaristic and nationalist policies, coupled with the negligence of Tamil nationalist politicians, have contributed to the ongoing impasse. The international community’s focus on accountability and reconciliation has failed to address the urgent needs of the Tamil people, who are struggling with poverty, discrimination, and political marginalization. The Tamil people must reject bankrupt nationalism and forge a new vision for themselves and the entire country, based on equality and freedom.
