SNP and Scottish Greens Power-Sharing Deal Ends Amid Mounting Tensions

The powersharing agreement between the Scottish National Party (SNP) and Scottish Greens has been terminated, forcing the SNP to govern as a minority administration. The deal, signed in 2021, had brought the Greens into power for the first time in the UK, giving the SNP a majority in the Scottish Parliament. However, tensions between the two parties escalated over the Scottish Government’s abandoning of a climate change target and the pausing of puberty blockers for young patients at Scotland’s gender services clinic.
