Apple TV+ Adjusts Premiere Date for Limited Series Presumed Innocent

Apple TV+ has announced an earlier release date for its highly anticipated limited series, Presumed Innocent, starring and executive produced by Jake Gyllenhaal. The series, an adaptation of Scott Turow’s renowned courtroom thriller, will premiere on Wednesday, June 12, just days following its world debut at the Tribeca Film Festival. Originally set for a June 14 release, the premiere has been moved up to allow viewers to experience the gripping tale sooner.

Inspired by the complexities of Turow’s original novel, David E. Kelley’s reimagined Presumed Innocent delves into themes of obsession, sexual desire, political intrigue, and the strength and boundaries of love. As the protagonist fights to maintain his family and marriage, the series explores the intricate relationships and motivations behind the characters’ actions.

A talented cast joins Gyllenhaal in bringing the story to life, including Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, and Elizabeth Marvel. Kelley serves as the series’ writer, executive producer, and showrunner, collaborating with Bad Robot Productions and David E. Kelley Productions in partnership with Warner Bros. Television. J.J. Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich contribute as executive producers for Bad Robot, while Kelley and Matthew Tinker assume the same role for David E. Kelley Productions. Jake Gyllenhaal, Dustin Thomason, and Sharr White also hold executive producer credits, while Turow and Miki Johnson serve as co-executive producers.

The series is directed by Anne Sewitsky, who will helm the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer. Greg Yaitanes is also set to direct additional episodes.
