The US State Department has issued a ‘Worldwide Caution’ alert urging US citizens overseas to exercise increased caution in light of potential terrorist threats specifically directed towards the LGBTQI+ community and events. This alert comes ahead of Pride month, which will kick off in June with numerous parades and celebrations honoring LGBTQI+ communities. The State Department advises US citizens traveling abroad to maintain heightened awareness, particularly in tourist areas and particularly if attending Pride celebrations or visiting venues frequented by LGBTQI+ individuals.

Federal agencies, including the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, have issued a warning about potential threats to LGBTQIA-related events and venues during June’s Pride Month.
