Evil Empire Sheds Light on The Rogue Prince of Persia’s Genesis

Evil Empire, the developer behind The Rogue Prince of Persia, provides an intriguing backstory on the game’s conception. The project emerged through a chance encounter at GDC, where the team pitched their vision for a 2D action platformer Prince of Persia game to Ubisoft. Despite having a smaller team, the developers emphasize that The Rogue Prince of Persia is a distinct entity, not a reskin of Dead Cells. It draws inspiration from modern Prince of Persia entries, focusing on fluid acrobatics and fast-paced combat. Launching in Early Access on Steam next month, the game aims to evolve through community feedback, a strategy that has proven successful for indie games like Dead Cells and Hades.
