Anne Hathaway’s Kissing Auditions: Casting Directors from ‘Princess Diaries’ and ‘Get Real’ Deny Rumors

Anne Hathaway’s recent claims of having to kiss multiple actors during chemistry tests have been refuted by casting directors from two of her notable early films, ‘Princess Diaries’ and ‘Get Real’. Donna Morong, casting director for ‘Princess Diaries’, and Linda Lamontagne, who cast Hathaway in ‘Get Real’, both denied any such practices during auditions for their respective projects. Additionally, Avy Kaufman, casting director for ‘Brokeback Mountain’, another film in which Hathaway starred, has no recollection of similar kissing auditions.

Anne Hathaway has spoken out against the outdated practice of chemistry tests that require actors to kiss during auditions. The ‘Les Misérables’ Oscar winner said she had to kiss multiple actors during her audition for the film and found it to be ‘gross’ and unnecessary. Hathaway also credits director Garry Marshall for helping her to develop her voice on set and says that she is hopeful for a third ‘Princess Diaries’ film.
