The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has nominated Abhinav Prakash, its vice president, as the party’s representative for the proposed public debate between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This development comes after Gandhi accepted an invitation from former judges and a former editor-in-chief to debate Modi on various issues related to the ongoing Lok Sabha election. Prakash, a Dalit leader from Uttar Pradesh, holds an academic background with an M.Phil degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University and currently serves as an assistant professor of Economics at Delhi University’s Ramjas College. BJYM president Tejasvi Surya expressed confidence that Prakash’s expertise in social, economic, and political dynamics will contribute significantly to the debate. The move is seen as a strategic response from the BJP to counter Gandhi’s challenge and showcase the party’s commitment to engaging in public discourse on important national issues.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation for a public debate, stating that it would be a positive step for the major political parties to present their visions for the country on a common platform. Gandhi, the current Member of Parliament for Wayanad, Kerala, responded to Modi’s invitation on social media, expressing that Congress welcomes the initiative and accepts the invitation for discussion.
