The Central Government has approached the Supreme Court seeking a modification of its 2012 judgment in the 2G spectrum allocation case. The original judgment had mandated that 2G spectrum be allocated through auctions. However, the Centre argues that in certain circumstances, administrative allocation of spectrum may be more appropriate for non-commercial use, security, and public interest functions.
