Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Pune on September 26 to inaugurate the new underground Metro corridor from Civil Court to Swargate. He will also lay the foundation stone for an elevated route, further expanding the city’s Metro network. The new underground line will connect PCMC to Swargate, enhancing connectivity and easing commutes for lakhs of passengers.
Pune Metro is extending its service hours to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the Ganesh Festival. The extended hours and increased train frequency will ensure convenient travel for devotees visiting various ‘Manache Ganpati’ across the city. Meanwhile, ridership continues to grow, with daily passengers exceeding one lakh in August.
Alstom has delivered the first Metropolis metro train for Pune Metro Line 3, which is being constructed at its facility in Sricity, Andhra Pradesh. The trains are designed to link the IT center of Hinjewadi with the central business area of Shivajinagar in Pune. The project is a collaborative venture between the Tata Group and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). Alstom is tasked with producing 22 sets of Metropolis trains, each consisting of three carriages, capable of accommodating up to 1,000 passengers.
