The Supreme Court has ordered a stay on the opening of a road outside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence in Chandigarh, citing security concerns raised by the Central and Punjab governments. The road was closed during the height of terrorism in Punjab three decades ago. In April, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed the opening of the road on a trial basis, but the Supreme Court has now put a stop to that plan.
