Olympic Council of Asia to Introduce Qualification Criteria for Asian Games

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) plans to implement qualification criteria for the Asian Games, aiming to reduce the number of participating teams and make the event more manageable for host nations. This comes as the Games have grown significantly in size, with over 15,000 athletes competing in Hangzhou last year. The OCA believes that qualification will help control the scale of the Games, potentially affecting teams like India’s football teams, which previously qualified despite not meeting the ranking requirements.
