Mamata Demands Resignation of Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose Amid Molestation Allegations

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has demanded the resignation of Governor CV Ananda Bose amidst allegations of molestation against him. Bose had released CCTV footage from Raj Bhavan in an attempt to clear his name, but Banerjee has called the footage edited and shocking. The contractual employee who made the allegations has objected to the public screening of unedited footage that allegedly disclosed her identity without her consent. She has also criticized Bose for not providing the footage to the police at the outset of the investigation.

West Bengal Governor Ananda Bose Blocks Police Inquiry into Sexual Harassment Allegations

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has instructed Raj Bhavan staff to ignore any communication from the Kolkata Police Special Enquiry Team (SET) in response to serious sexual harassment allegations against him. Bose cited immunities under Article 361, which prohibit inquiries against the Governor. Following the allegations, Kolkata Police had requested the presence of three Raj Bhavan personnel and CCTV footage to facilitate their investigation. However, no employees appeared, and the footage has not been provided. The Kolkata Police has registered a complaint but has not named the Governor, who denies the accusations. Additionally, West Bengal minister Chandrima Bhattacharya has been banned from entering Raj Bhavan premises due to her criticism of the Governor.
