The district, which accounts for 90% of opium production in India, has witnessed protests over low government prices. Despite Joshi’s efforts to appease farmers and rope in community leaders, Congress candidate Udai Lal Anajana has raised the issue aggressively. Joshi seeks to leverage Modi government schemes and the BJP’s victory in six assembly segments under the Chittorgarh seat in the 2023 Assembly polls.
