Malayalam film director Ranjith has resigned as chairman of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy following allegations of misconduct by Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra. The allegations, which stem from an incident in 2009, have sparked controversy within the Malayalam film industry.
Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra has accused Malayalam film director and Kerala Chalachitra Academy chairman Ranjith of inappropriate behavior during a 2009 audition for his film ‘Paleri Manikyam’. Mitra alleges that Ranjith touched her inappropriately and made her feel uncomfortable. Ranjith has denied the allegations, stating that Mitra’s performance was unsatisfactory and that there is an ulterior motive behind the accusations.
