Former Rutgers Guard Jillian Huerter Transfers to Fairfield University

Former Rutgers women’s basketball guard Jillian Huerter has transferred to Fairfield University, a powerhouse program in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Huerter, a freshman sharpshooter, averaged 6.9 points and made 57 three-pointers last season. She joins a Fairfield team that is coming off a historic 31-2 campaign, culminating in an NCAA tournament berth. The Stags went undefeated in conference play, winning both the regular season and tournament championships. They defeated Rutgers 78-54 last season, a game in which Huerter contributed nine points by hitting three three-pointers. Rutgers has been busy making moves to replenish its roster after losing three players to the NCAA transfer portal in the offseason. The team has signed JoJo Lacey, a graduate transfer from Boston College, and five-star guard Kiyomi McMiller, a member of the Class of 2024. They have also landed four-star recruit Zacahara Perkins of Summer Creek High School in Houston, Texas.

Alabama Crimson Tide Offer Shakes Up Keelon Russell’s Recruitment

Four-star quarterback Keelon Russell, who has been committed to SMU since September 2023, received an offer from the University of Alabama. This offer has sparked interest and potential changes in Russell’s recruitment. Despite his prior commitment to SMU, Russell remains open to other opportunities, as evidenced by his scheduled official visits to SMU, Florida Gators, and Ole Miss Rebels. As the No. 7 2025 quarterback recruit in the nation, Russell’s decision is highly anticipated, and Alabama’s offer could potentially sway his commitment.

Mark Pope Adds Top Assistant Alvin Brooks III to BYU Basketball Staff

BYU men’s basketball coach Mark Pope has appointed Alvin Brooks III as an assistant coach. Brooks leaves Scott Drew’s staff at Baylor, where he played a crucial role in building the program into one of the nation’s most consistent. During his tenure, Baylor won the 2021 national championship and secured multiple top-five recruiting classes. Brooks’ strength in recruiting, particularly in Texas, makes him a valuable addition to Pope’s staff. With Fueger, Hart, and Fox, Pope has now filled all primary assistant coach positions.

Oregon State Men’s Basketball Adds Ja’Quavis Williford

Oregon State University’s men’s basketball team has secured another addition to its 2024-2025 roster with the commitment of small forward Ja’Quavis Williford. Williford, a 6-foot-6 high school senior from Los Angeles’ Middlebrooks Academy, joins the Beavers after a brief signing with Saint Louis in November 2022. However, Williford was released from his national letter of intent following a coaching change at Saint Louis in March. Prior to his commitment to Saint Louis, Williford held offers from various institutions, including Oklahoma State, UNLV, Colorado State, and New Mexico. Oregon State, having extended an offer to Williford in 2023, welcomed him for an official visit in September of the same year. Williford’s signing marks the third commitment for Oregon State within the last week, following transfers Parsa Fallah and Damarco Minor. With Williford’s addition, the Beavers now have nine players on scholarship for the upcoming season, leaving four vacancies remaining. According to 247Sports, Williford is recognized as a 3-star prospect in the class of 2024, ranking 195th nationally and 21st within California for his graduating class.

Calipari’s Departure Spurs Kentucky Recruiting Changes, Arkansas Roster Turnover

Notable additions to the Razorbacks include Zvonimir Ivišić, a former Kentucky player, and Karter Knox, the brother of former Kentucky star Kevin Knox.
