Thiruvananthapuram International Airport will be closed for five hours on November 9th due to the ‘Alpassi Arattu’ procession from the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. This annual event, which dates back centuries, involves the procession crossing the airport runway on its way to Shangumugham Beach for a ceremonial bathing of the temple idols. The airport closure, a tradition since its establishment in 1932, ensures the continuity of this important cultural and religious practice.
