Iceland CEO Praises Paramedics Who Saved His Life in London Marathon Collapse

Richard Walker, the CEO of Iceland, collapsed just over a mile before the finish line of the London Marathon but was saved by paramedics from St John’s Ambulance. Walker had no memory of collapsing and woke up to paramedics packing ice on him. He said he had pushed himself too hard and beyond his limit, and that he was unconscious for about half an hour before regaining consciousness. Walker praised the paramedics who remained with him until his recovery, saying they are just amazing.
