Southeast Asia Poised to Become a Major Sustainable Aviation Fuel Hub

Southeast Asia holds immense potential to become a leading producer of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with the region estimated to be able to supply 12% of global demand by 2050. The study, which examined 11 Southeast Asian countries, found that the region could produce approximately 45.7 million metric tons of SAF annually by 2050, utilizing bio-based feedstocks and waste materials. This development offers a significant opportunity to reduce aviation carbon emissions and contribute to the global goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
