Eto’o Fined $200,000 by CAF for Ethics Violation

Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, has been fined $200,000 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for accepting a paid brand deal with an online gambling company, deemed an ethics violation. While CAF found insufficient evidence for accusations of match manipulation, they determined Eto’o’s actions violated ethical principles. Eto’o’s lawyers contest the decision, arguing that CAF lacks jurisdiction and a formal ethics code, and plan to appeal.
