Hathras Stampede: ‘Bhole Baba’ Arrested in 2020 for Claiming to Revive Dead

A stampede at a ‘Satsang’ led by preacher ‘Bhole Baba’ in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, resulted in the deaths of over 120 people. The incident occurred as devotees scrambled to collect dust from the preacher’s feet while he was leaving. The organizers had obtained permission for 80,000 attendees but over 2.5 lakh people were present. Bhole Baba, known for his alleged ‘healing’ powers and claims of reviving the dead, has a history of controversy. Six people have been arrested in connection with the stampede, including sevadars, and investigations are underway.
