The San Francisco Giants have placed left-handed pitcher Blake Snell on the injured list with a left adductor strain, hours before his scheduled start against the Cleveland Guardians. Snell, the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner, has struggled in his first three appearances with the Giants, posting an 11.57 ERA. The Giants will open their series against the Guardians with a bullpen game and are expected to be without Snell for at least a month. This is the fourth Giants starter to be placed on the IL this season, joining Carlos Rodón, Anthony DeSclafani, and Alex Wood. Right-hander Sean Hjelle is a possible candidate to replace Snell in the rotation.
